VISITING OTHER LIBRARIES


From time to time you may need to visit another library for the purposes of supporting your learning needs. The LILRC at IADT is part of the Institutes of Technology [IOT] sector and as such has common agreements to facilitate visits to the libraries of the other IOTs. In addition you can also visit NCAD; DIT; UCD; DCU; TCD; NCI; NUI Maynooth amongst others.

Each external library requires that you bring with you a ‘Letter of Introduction’ from the LILRC. This letter confirms that when seeking the information you require, you will abide by the rules and regulations governing the library you wish to visit.

With this ‘Letter of Introduction’ -

  • You are entitled to a READING FACILITY’ only

  • Borrowing item (s) from the library you visit is strictly never permitted

  • Every time you visit you will need a NEW ‘Letter of Introduction


WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY FOR A LETTER OF INTRODUCTION


  • You must be the holder of a CURRENT IADT ID card
  • You library record must not be in default—e.g. Overdue book/s; lost book/s; fines.
  • You must first make sure that the library locally does not have what you are looking for.
